In a stirring address on October 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the nation to rally around a bold new “Internal Strengthening Plan” aimed at fortifying Ukraine’s resilience amid its ongoing struggle for sovereignty. Speaking as the Crimea Platform met in Latvia with over 70 delegations, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for both international and internal unity to bring about a just end to the conflict.
Highlighting the dual approach of the “Victory Plan” and the new Strengthening Plan, Zelenskyy explained, “This plan will ensure that Ukraine has the internal unity and resilience to overcome the challenges of this year and the next.” The Victory Plan focuses on securing international support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and place in global security, while the Strengthening Plan targets essential domestic initiatives—justice reforms, economic stability, social protections, and countermeasures against Russian disinformation.
“Unity at all levels is crucial,” Zelenskyy insisted, underscoring the importance of support from communities and regions as well as from Ukraine’s allies. “When you work for the state, you feel you are with the state, alongside millions who want Ukraine to win.”
In parallel, Zelenskyy reminded the international community of the importance of upholding the principles of the UN Charter on United Nations Day, stressing that Ukraine’s struggle represents a stand for global norms. His message was a powerful call to arms, urging unity both within Ukraine and with its allies to solidify Ukraine’s position on the world stage.
With a combination of internal and external solidarity, Zelenskyy envisions a stronger Ukraine capable of overcoming current challenges, and perhaps more importantly, one ready to secure lasting peace.
